The East Riding of Yorkshire Council is considering the approval of a plan to build a large supermarket on the old Cattle Market site. The plan includes some smaller retail outlets, some housing and a cinema. There would be an HGV impact, including probable removal / restriction of parking on the access route and surrounding streets. (Plan A)
An alternative idea is that the Cattle Market site development should not include a large supermarket but, instead, a range of social amenities. For example: Cinema, youth club, multipurpose community centre, bowling alley, internet café, bingo, museum of Driffield, arts centre, playpark, band stand, green space, (as well as small retail outlets and some housing). (Plan B)
(Both plans would include some public parking).
